Lose Weight By Drinking Water At Night

Can you really lose weight by drinking water at night?  There has been a lot of debate about whether drinking water, especially warm water (yuk) can help you drop the extra pounds.

I don't know about drinking warm water because I personally can't stand it, but generally speaking, drinking water during the day and at night, will keep you feeling fuller without having to eat.  Many diet plans suggest that you drink a full glass of water 15 minutes before you eat.  It can take 30 minutes for your stomach to feel full and if you eat too fast, you may end up over eating.

The bottom line is that you have to eat less calories than you consume in order to lose weight. By drinking a glass of water, your stomach has time to process that it has something in it and you should eat less food.   

When you are thirsty do you automatically reach for a soda or juice or even a sports drink?  If you are trying to eat healthy and lose weight, you may not even stop to consider how many calories can be loaded in these drinks.  You may be consuming more than half of your daily caloric allowance in drinks in you are not careful! 

Water is calorie free if you don't add anything to it, and it will help flush the toxins out of your body.  Some of the other drinks are high in sodium and will actually make you thirstier. It can be a terrible cycle to break.  Even if you are drinking "diet" drinks, there is a lot of evidence to suggest that the artificial sweeteners actually make you hang onto weight instead of losing it.

While we know that drinking a glass of water can help stop hunger pangs, there is also something called water-induced thermogenesis.  This is the process where drinking water actually give you more energy which allows you move more and burn more calories overall.

The bottom line is that water is not just good for you, your body needs it to be healthy.  There is a lot of evidence to suggest that you can lose weight by drinking water at night as well as during the day.
